Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy looks at accepting things outside of our control, while committing to actions that cultivate a meaningful life. People often consider therapy as an opportunity to enact change in one's life. However, the pursuit of change can sometimes lead to struggle.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an effective and evidence-based approach that puts aside the notion of change as the only therapeutic technique available.

  • ACT focuses on handling uncomfortable thoughts and feelings in adaptive and less painful ways by learning and practicing various skills. ACT also focuses on clarifying values with the intention of creating an enriched life.

  • ACT helps us stay within the present moment, take a step back from thoughts we struggle with, learn new ways to approach thinking, better understand our values, commit to behaviors we believe matter, and strive for the acceptance of feelings.
